Post-Surgical Diet Instructions

Blend, mash, or puree your food for two weeks
No chewing gum or eating nuts and hard candy
You should be able to easily spoon in and swallow your food
Avoid anything that has seeds as they may get lodged under the gum or between the teeth
No hot food for five days following surgery
No drinking through a straw for one week following surgery, as this creates a vacuum in your mouth that can disturb the healing process. The purpose of this is to protect the clot that is acting as a "band-aid" between the gum and tooth.
