New Technology Revolutionizing the Dental World

Technology is evolving faster than ever. As such, we strive to remain on the forefront of advanced periodontal care in order to provide our patients with the best experience possible. Dr. Nemeth has made it a priority to have the most cutting edge technology available.  In 1990, we became the first dental practice in the United States to own a laser. In 2014, Dr. Nemeth became the first periodontist in Michigan certified to perform the Pinhole Surgical Technique.  We are happy to announce that we have two new additions to our office, the Trios3, a handheld intraoral scanner, and the Formlabs Form2 3D printer. We are the first periodontal practice in Michigan to have received this type of desktop 3D printer.

Having this new technology in our office allows us to combat numerous fears patients have when being seen in a dental office.  There are many variables that can add to fear and anxiety that the patient experiences.  A very common concern that arises amongst patients is gagging from the “goop” that is produced from traditional impressions.  The Trios3 is making that fear obsolete.

Taking Easier Impressions with Trios3

Accuracy of the Trios3 scan is unbeatable.  Rather than having to take multiple impressions this one time scan will capture every detail down to the exact shade of the tooth resulting in perfect crowns and bridges.

Time that the patient spends in the chair is greatly reduced when using the Trios3.  The Trios3 can take a full mouth scan in less than three minutes.  Without having to retake impressions the patient’s time spent in the chair is reduced, on average, by 23 minutes.

Reducing the amount of materials used on each patient is one step closer to being environmentally friendly.  Trios3 makes it easy to be eco-friendly, without the need for models, trays, or lab pick-ups there is less emission being produced so our office can work on reducing our carbon footprint.

Customizing Our Own Guides with Form2

Digital scans are sent directly to the Form2’s 3D printing system.  This begins the process for physical surgical guides, bite guards or bone and tooth models.  The printing process can take up to three and a half hours to complete.  This eliminates the need to send projects to a lab reducing the waiting time for the patient between appointments.

Interfacing technology allows our office to utilize each device to its fullest capacity while helping us reach our goal of being more environmentally friendly.  The digital scan taken using the Trios3 is directly imported to the Form2’s 3D printing system.  Using the two in conjunction takes human error out allowing for the produced products to be very accurate and precise.

Our goal is to continuously provide better and more efficient care for our patients.  The leading edge technology that we have will assist us in reaching those goals.  If you would like to learn more about the technology we have in the office please visit our website at www.drnemeth.com or call our office at (248) 327-3100.
